Nigerian pop has produced hundreds of memorable choruses over the last 25 years, but some have become unforgettable. These are the choruses that launched dance crazes, inspired remixes, crossed borders, filled stadiums and are still bangers today. From timeless classics to global anthems, here are 20 Nigerian choruses that have outlived the moment that created them.

The “Yahooze” chorus was impossible to escape in 2007. It’s built around repetition and a dance craze of the same name, turning simple lyrics into a nationwide anthem. The slang “e dey rush” (meaning abundance or overflow) made this song sit on everyone’s lips. The simple yet punchy chorus is celebratory and confident; a young Starr revelling in momentum and gratitude. It went viral on TikTok and earned her a Grammy nomination.

Burna Boy turned heartbreak into a big hit song. “Last, last, e don cast / Na everybody go chop breakfast” on the beat drop makes a party go crazy.
