You shall not be a busybody
Happiness is when everyone knows how to mind their business. Believe it or not, asking your coworker why they鈥檝e been in the toilet for the last two hours won鈥檛 always be interpreted as you being 鈥渃aring鈥.
You shall respect your coworker鈥檚 time
The work is urgent, we know. But don鈥檛 go messaging someone at 2 a.m. on a Sunday and expect them to shine teeth with you.
You鈥檙e coworkers, not their boss
In other words, no go dey do pass yourself.
Don鈥檛 expose anyone鈥檚 white lies
Even if you鈥檙e sure they鈥檙e calling in sick just to attend another interview somewhere, it鈥檚 not your business o.
Your friendship ends at the office
Unless they show they鈥檙e open to being close buddies outside work, just satisfy yourself with being the office bestie.
Don鈥檛 ask for their social media handles
If y鈥檃ll aren鈥檛 close like that, just maintain your lane. Many people like to have a safe space where they can shade their office people when they need to.
You shall not eat beans in the general workspace
Or any extremely鈥 fragrant food at all. If your office doesn’t have a cafeteria, just starve. Just don鈥檛 bring beans and egg to work.
Thou shalt not steal ideas
Never pass off someone else鈥檚 idea as yours if you don鈥檛 want thunder to fire you.
Block until proven cool
Find them on social media before they find you, and block them. Only unblock when you鈥檝e confirmed they have sense.
Don鈥檛 call a meeting when it could鈥檝e been an email
Just don鈥檛 do it. Sincerely, your past, present and future coworkers.
