Early in 2022, Kemi Adetiba announced a list of projects that are cooking in the Kemi Adetiba Visuals (KAV) kitchen, and best believe we鈥檝e sat and waited with bated breath since then.

Here鈥檚 all we know about the first project on the lineup, To Kill A Monkey.

The casting choke

Kemi Adetiba has pulled in the Nollywood big guns for this project. From old to new Nollywood, To Kill a Monkey is said to star Chidi Mokeme, Stella Damasus, Bimbo Akintola, William Benson, Lilian Afegbai, Bucci Franklin, Michael .O. Ejoor and Damilola Adegbite.

It鈥檚 a crime thriller

Nollywood has decided to choke us with crime and action thrillers, but are we complaining?  After King of Boys and The Return of The King, Kemi Adetiba makes her return with another crime thriller that promises to be better than anything we鈥檝e ever seen.

It鈥檚 a mini-series

We鈥檝e never been more thankful that Kemi Adetiba is giving us a series in the midst of the two-hour long movies that鈥檝e taken over Nollywood. We get to watch To Kill a Monkey at our own pace as the story progresses nicely.

Straight to Netflix

After the madness King of Boys and King of Boys: The Return of The King did on Netflix, it鈥檚 no surprise that To Kill a Monkey joins the lineup of films heading straight there. If we say we aren鈥檛 excited to watch it as e dey hot, we鈥檇 be lying.

Multiple auditions

Kemi Adetiba is determined to give us the best of the best with To Kill A Monkey. She held three auditions to select all the best new talents to make an appearance on the show.

All roads lead to set

After the announcement and the multiple auditions that followed, To Kill A Monkey is finally off the ground. Production started in early August, and we鈥檝e been getting sweet updates and visuals from the Bruce Lee of visuals herself. If we weren鈥檛 excited before, we definitely are now.

Set to release in 2024

We鈥檝e been waiting for Kemi Adetiba鈥檚 return since she dropped KOB 2 in 2021, but thankfully, we don鈥檛 have to wait much longer. To Kill a Monkey is set to release some time next year. We get to see the magic she has in store for us soon.

10 Shows We鈥檙e Currently Watching, Loving and Enjoying /pop/10-shows-were-currently-watching-loving-and-enjoying/ Fri, 15 Apr 2022 15:00:00 +0000 /?p=269652 Finding a really good show to watch can be a hassle, which is why we put together a list of shows we鈥檙e watching and enjoying. You should check these shows out.

1. Is this SEAT taken? (ISIT)

Is this SEAT taken? Is a funny dating show on YouTube in which the host Chinasa Anukam goes on a date with a new person every episode. Chinasa is really funny and the way she makes her guest feels very comfortable during the show makes it easy to watch.聽

2. The Real Housewives of Lagos

Who doesn鈥檛 love chaos? Only one episode of RHOL has come out so far, and it鈥檚 already got our attention. The show promises us even more drama and the selected cast are enough proof that we鈥檙e going to get more than enough.

3. Peeker

Maybe we have a thing for dating shows. This YouTube show is a peculiar kind of speed dating. Different people go on dates in which they can鈥檛 see the person on the other side. There are a few options to identify who you鈥檙e on a date with and one of these options includes calling a friend to tell you what the person looks like. Is this interesting or not???

4. Young, Famous & African

If you haven鈥檛 watched by now, you鈥檙e either very busy or living under a rock. Whatever the case is, you have time this Easter break to catch up. Get into it.

5. Bel Air

Remakes are usually hit-or-miss and Bel Air is a hit. The actor who plays young Will Smith (Jabari Banks) is a fresh face who understands the weight of his character. The Bel Air reboot doesn鈥檛 follow the exact same storyline as the original Fresh Prince of Bel Air and we love that. It鈥檚 a testament to a well-done reboot.聽

6. Top Boy

You鈥檙e definitely not on your 鈥渂ig man ting鈥 (read this in IJGB  British please) if you aren鈥檛 watching this show. Top Boy is about drug dealing and gang culture in the UK. The show depicts some violence, and we won鈥檛 recommend this if you don鈥檛 enjoy shows about crime with a sprinkle of gun violence.

7. TVSins

TVSins is a YouTube channel dedicated to pointing out the 鈥渟ins鈥 in TV shows. Your favourite shows aren鈥檛 spared from them. If your thing is shitting on other people鈥檚 things, this is for you.聽

8. Abbott Elementary

Abbott Elementary is set in a public elementary school (or what we Nigerians call Primary school). The principal Ava doesn鈥檛 really know what she鈥檚 supposed to do as the principal and her character is one of the funniest on the show. Abbott Elementary is an effortlessly funny, well-done comedy.

9. Atlanta

Since that opening scene where Paper Boy randomly shoots somebody in public in 础迟濒补苍迟补鈥s season 1, we鈥檝e been hooked, seduced and sometimes confused. Atlanta is great because it鈥檚 not just about a young black rapper trying to get rich, it also covers important issues like sexuality and toxic masculinity. Donald Glover is a genius for this show.

10. The Ultimatum

The Ultimatum is a spin-off series of the Netflix show Love Is Blind. On this show, someone tells their partner to either marry them or leave 鈥 and that鈥檚 not even the craziest part. Each partner gets to date other people on the show and eventually decide if they want to stay with their original partner or not. Get ready to roll your eyes a lot while watching this.

We Replaced the Bridgerton Season Two Cast With Nigerian Actors /pop/we-replaced-the-bridgerton-season-2-cast-with-nigerian-actors/ Sun, 03 Apr 2022 08:00:00 +0000 /?p=268410 We鈥檝e watched the second season of Bridgerton and thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot, the enemies to lover trope and the intense chemistry between .

Watching the show made us wonder what it would be like if the characters were replaced with Nigerian actors and here鈥檚 what we came up with.

1. Eucharia Anunobi as Queen Charlotte

It鈥檚 almost as though Eucharia was made for this character. From the brows to the way she speaks, there鈥檚 no better Nigerian actress and veteran who can body this role.

2. Joke Silva as Lady Danbury

Joke Silva embodies wisdom and class, very much like Lady Danbury. She has a readily available personality to carry the role and succeed at it.

3. Bimbo Akintola as Mary Sharma

The range of this woman. We need to tell Netflix to give her a call if they ever get the bright idea to give us a Nigerian version of Bridgerton.

4. Ireti Doyle as Countess Bridgerton

She鈥檚 the perfect dotting mum who wants the best for her children in terms of marriage and happiness.  Countess Bridgerton is an unproblematic fave, very much like Ireti Doyle.

5. Sola Sobowale as Lady Portia Featherington

Conniving Lady who鈥檇 do anything for her family? Almost reminds of us our own king of boys. It鈥檚 either aunty Sola or no one else.

6. Nse Ikpe-Etim as Madame Delacroix

The older self-made woman who doesn鈥檛 conform to societal norms and has chosen to work hard to make a name for herself seems like the perfect description of real-life Nse.

7. Jemima Osunde as Penelope Featherington

To be very honest, Jemima Osunde seems like someone who has all the tea on what鈥檚 going on in Nollywood but decides not to speak. Jemima Penelope Featherington Osunde

8. Susan Pwajok as Eloise Bridgerton

We surprised you with this one, didn鈥檛 we? Susan’s character on The Johnsons is already similar to Eloise’s. We鈥檙e not trying to put her in a box, we鈥檙e only pointing out how perfect she鈥檇 be for this role.

9. Uzoamaka Aniunoh as Edwina Sharma

Uzoamaka has proven herself in all the roles she鈥檚 ever been in. Her beauty and talent are so surreal. There鈥檚 no better person to play Edwina than her.

10. Meg Otanwa as Kate Sharma

Nollywood is filled with a lot of talented actors, but none of them is like Meg. She has the beauty and charm to deliver the best performance in this role.

11. Nonso Bassey as Anthony Bridgerton

Nonso Bassey playing Viscount Anthony Bridgerton? Yes, please, count us in. Even in his music, you know Nonso is the ultimate lover boy. If it鈥檚 not him, it鈥檚 no one else.

12. Jim Iyke as Lord Jack Featherington

Poor businessman turned scammer who eventually got played by a woman sounds like a role created for Jim Iyke.

13. Efa Iwara as Colin Bridgerton

Colin can鈥檛 see the love of his life right in front of him same way Efa can鈥檛 see all the women who鈥檝e been trying to marry him.

Efa Iwara as Colin Bridgerton

14. Adesua Etomi-Wellington as Duchess Daphne Basset, n茅e Bridgerton

Anyone who argues with this is simply a hater.

Can Love Really Be Blind in Nigeria? /life/can-love-really-be-blind-in-nigeria/ Wed, 16 Feb 2022 13:30:00 +0000 /?p=263213 Love is Blind is a that really intrigues me. People get on the show, date people through pods and hope they fall in love with their personalities and not just looks. Some of them have gone on to have successful love stories (there鈥檚 a particular couple I Stan so much).

I鈥檝e been wondering what a version of Love Is Blind would look like if it was Nigerian and here are my thoughts.

1. Nigerian women don鈥檛 have time to date 14 men at the same time

Which Nigerian woman has time to be talking to 14 men at the same time because she鈥檚 trying to find love? Men that she can鈥檛 see o. When it鈥檚 not like she鈥檚 mad. Nigerian women are not straightforward, but they still don鈥檛 have time to waste.聽

2. Nigerian men are liars and all 14 women will be in love with one man

You can trust Ebuka to tell all 14 women the same story and convince each of them to stay quiet about what he鈥檚 said to them. The other men are going to try the same method and confusion is going to find its way to the show.聽

3. One of the men on the show would have at least two families in different parts of Nigeria

A man would be on that show toasting 14 women, his wives would be at home wondering what鈥檚 happening. His wives at home are only going to find out about each other when they cast him on social media. Now, kasala don bust.聽

4. Nigerian mums won鈥檛 let that wedding ceremony prosper

A wedding planned by the organizer of a show? Do you mean the Nigerian mum won鈥檛 be able to take over the wedding and invite Mummy Unique and all the Unique Sisters in her church? Just disown your mother or let her disown you if you鈥檙e going to try that nonsense with her.聽

5. So many meals in that house, but you鈥檒l still eat breakfast

You鈥檒l surely eat that breakfast. Everyone is going to come out of that pod and they鈥檙e going to see their real specs. All the stories they told you in the pod will fly out of the window and everyone will go back to being in the streets. The only positive thing that might come out of that pod is the orgy that鈥檚 going to happen.聽
